The Buck brothers were noted for their antiquarian topography. They drew, engraved, and published more than 400 view of ruins in England and Wales.
Houston was one of a group of Irish engravers including McArdell who worked in London and were known as The Dublin Group. Houston was a prolific mezzotint engraver whose subjects included politican's portraits, genre scenes, and copies after works by Rembrandt.
