Pierre Mignard was a promient French Baroque painter. in 1690, he became First Painter to King Louis XIV and Director of the French Academy. He also helped decorate rooms at the palace of Versailles.
The engraver Gerard Edelinck was born in Antwerp and trained in Paris under de Poilly. He was especially noted for his portrait engravings. He was appointed a teacher at the academy established at the Gobelins for the training of workers in tapestry. in 1677 he became a member of the Paris Academy of Painting and Sculpture.
