The engraver Samuel William Reynolds Jr. was one of England's greatest early 19th century mezzotint engravers. He studied in London with H. Hodges and John Raphael Smith. His first important engraved portrait dated 1794. In 1797, be began exhibiting his engravings at the Royal Academy, and in 1810 began also exhibiting them at the Paris Salons. He was appointed "Mezzotint Engraver to King George III."
He was very prolific, with some 350 mezzotints in his oeuvre. He often collaborated with Sir Joshua Reynolds.
